UnitedHealth Group with unimaginable market share (particularly in certain areas and systems where it’s the only option) in pharmacy prescription processing is equivalent to a credit card processing company going down for few weeks for small business vendor that only takes online credit card orders.Pharmacies don’t have any alternatives because the processing company is also the payer of the claims. More health systems (ton of ransomwares taking down hospital networks) and insurer-PBM-prescription network systems will suffer similar fate in the upcoming months because vulnerabilities in 90s tech with third-party systems hacked for the sake of cloud and cost-cutting measures together are starting to show cracks. Healthcare need someone bold to step in and call out BS.
